10 Ways to Reduce Hosting CPU Usage on WordPress

WordPress is one of the most demanding content management system of recent days. Most of the users these days use wordpress for their blogs or websites. Around 85% sites of our servers are using wordpress and most of the clients are utilizing multiple wordpress blogs for their business. WordPress has been found to be using pretty good sum of CPU and Memory. Today’s shared hosting environments are more limited based on the CPU and memory rather than the Space and Bandwidth. Here are some tips to reduce the CPU usage on a wordpress blog and improve the site performance.

Cloudflare

It is the best tool to Reduce Bandwidth and Cpu Usage and it blocks all the threads .The WordPress ecosystem appears to facing its worst ever coordinated brute force attack. Content delivery network CloudFlare says it blocked 60 million requests against its WordPress customers in a single hour. The CloudFlare WordPress Plugin ensures your WordPress blog is running optimally on the CloudFlare platform.

Caching

The two options I considered are WP-Super Cache and W3 Total Cache. I chose WP-Super Cache because it appeared easier to set up and some people were stating that it was better for a shared hosting environment although I suspect that was because W3 Total Cache was not set up properly. WP-Super Cache works well on my stand-alone WordPress sites but was causing numerous and serious headaches on my multisite installation.

SEO Plugins too can be crazy

I know this may sound weird but believe me, its true. SEO plugins including All in One SEO Plugin, Yoast and others require a high CPU usage. If you’re using Genesis theme framework, using the default SEO feature in Genesis isn’t that bad.

My last experience with SEOPressor too wasn’t that nice though a lot of people use it without complaining but it puts one helluva load on my server.

Update your plugins

Updates are pushed to you all the time and there’s always a good reason for that. Be sure you don’t ignore an update.

Upgrade to WordPress latest version

If you’re still using an older WordPress version, I suggest you should upgrade as soon as possible. Lots of patches may have been included for optimization and security.

Remove related posts plugins

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP), Contextual Related posts plugin and other related posts plugins eat up resources and should be avoided. The last time I used YARPP on a client’s site, I was getting “Internal Server Error” till I removed it.

If you must use a related post plugin, I recommend nRelate since the whole process doesn’t happen on your server, the script and images needed to display the related posts are hosted on nRelate server.

Image Optimization

I use imageoptimizer which is a free download and does a great job reducing images. You can also use Smush.it™ from Yahoo.

Optimizing the Database

This guide will show you how to easily optimize the database using phpMyAdmin. For a WordPress database, this popular plug-in will do it automatically and also remove page revisions. This articleprovides two other plug-ins and information about optimizing or repairing a WordPress database.

Blocking Foreign IP Addresses

A substantial amount of traffic comes from foreign countries. Some of that traffic are legitimate visitors but much of it consists of spammers. I have no need for foreign visitors or spam so I was interested in blocking all foreign visitors. Not only does this substantially decrease usage but it substantially decreases spam comments and other types of spam submissions. With WordPress, I use a free plug-in called iQ Block Countries. For non-WordPress sites, I found Power Redirector 2 which I have not tried.

Reduce your widgets

There are some widgets you added that aren’t really necessary. Take a closer look at those widgets, remove those you know that do not actually benefit your readers. The more widgets you have, the more load you put on the server for each page view.

Use a good theme

Your themes should be up to date. Themes too can contribute to high CPU usage and if you have a feeling that your theme is heavy, be sure to update it or change to something optimized or simpler. I use Genesis and I think it’s okay. There are in-built features you normally need to install plugins for that already come with it.

Before we begin, you should make sure that you’ve got a laptop or desktop with a wireless card that isn’t currently connected—if your laptop is connected to the wired network, your wireless card should be free, and we can use it to allow access to the internet. Note that you have to be plugged into a wired connection in order to share the connection wirelessly with others, or have a second wireless card. Readers should also note that this won’t work on (some) work networks that use group policies to enforce TPS report cover sheet boredom and prevent you from having any fun at all.

You’ll want to start out by heading into the Network and Sharing Center through the Control Panel, or you can quickly get to it by right-clicking on the network icon in the system tray. Once you are there, find the link for “Set up a new connection or network”.
You’ll be prompted with a wizard that allows you to connect to VPNs, dial-up, or create a new ad hoc wireless network, which is what we want to do. You can easily use an ad hoc network to share files back and forth between two computers, but today we’ll be using it for sharing the internet connection.

You’ll need to give your network a name and choose some security options—remember that WEP is extremely easy to crack—and you’ll want to make sure to use at least a decent sized key even for WPA2. The really important option on this page is to remember to check the box for “Save this network”.

At this point your ad hoc network should be running and ready to start connecting your devices, but you’ll want to hold off just a minute.

You’ll notice that the ad hoc networks that you create get added to the quick-select wireless network list—when you disconnect from your ad hoc network, it’s the same as stopping it. Connecting to the network is the same as starting it back up; this way you can quickly switch back and forth between connections with just a few clicks.

The last step is enabling connection sharing through your regular network card, which will allow anybody connected to your ad hoc wireless to use your internet connection. To do so, you’ll want to head into the Network and Sharing Center, click the “Change adapter settings” link on the left, and then find your network connection in the list—it’s very important that you only enable internet connection sharing on the adapter that is actually connected to the internet. In this case, my internet access at work goes through my Local Area Connection, so I’ve enabled it there.

At this point, you should be able to connect any wireless device to your new ad hoc network and access the internet, or even share files directly with your laptop.

Install Certificate error Application in Nokia S60v3v5 symbian^3

Many Nokia users can’t able to install Interesting software’s Like ttpod,Widgetizer,etc in their mobile because it gives some error like “certificate error contact the application supplier” or “expired certificate” .

I am giving a solution to install your favorite application without any restriction .

There are two Method For Installing this types of applications
1. Getting Certificate from websites like OPDA
2. Without Certificates

Method 1

1. Register in OPDA website and submit your Mobile IMEI (dial*#06#check) number
2. Apply for certificate here
3. After a few hours, check the My Certificates section for the cer and key files. You will need both to sign your apps.
4. Use SignSIS to sign the unsigned app using the Certificate and key files you just downloaded. You don’t need to enter anything for the key box.

5. That’s it! Your app is now signed and can be installed. From now on, you only need to do step 7 when you find more unsigned apps.

Method 2

1. Install dr.web in memory card (Download)

2. Connect phone with PC, or memory card to card reader.

Note:-Use E:/ memory (mass storage, or memory card in devices without mass storage memory)

3. Copy Quarantine file to chosen memory (memory card on most phones, phone memory on N8 and other)

Now disconnect from Pc

4. Now operate from Mobile
